It sounds odd, and possibly not very appetizing, but hear me out!
I felt the same way when I was first introduced to the idea. Fruit in a sandwich? No meat or cheese or veggies? Is it even a sandwich? So many questions ran through my mind. I was very hesitant. I would have never thought to combine these ingredients to make a so-called sandwich.
However, I happen to like all the ingredients involved in putting together this meal. So why not? I like trying new and creative ways of combining foods so I decided to give this a try. Needless to say, I’m a fan!
You can mix and match whichever fruits and bread you like. My mind started running with ideas of other fruit combination sandwiches that I can make! So many yummy combinations. “NEED TO TRY THEM ALL!”, I said with a glimmer in my eye. Food is like a fun edible science experiment. Combining different ingredients to achieve a certain result. Sometimes you’ll fail, but when you achieve your goal, oh boy, is it exciting! And that’s exactly what happened with this fruit sandwich.
Below are the ingredients that made me fall in love with the concept of “fruit sandwich”.
Ingredients:
1 Large Croissant
Hummus
Guacamole
Hand full of each of the following fruits diced:
Cantaloupe
Honeydew
Pinapple
Cut open the croissant so you have two sides to make a sandwich. Spread hummus on one side and guac on the other.
Layor the diced fruit between the two halfs of the croissant and done!
Very simple and refreshing, especially on a hot summer day, while still offering the savory flavors from the buttery croissant and hummus!
