Sugar free “Brownies”

Free of processed sugar, this no bake sweet treat is surely addictive. Super quick and easy to make. Using dates as a sweetener alternative in some recipes is a great way to reduce your processed sugar intake without sacrificing flavor. The recipe below can be altered in any way you’d like. More tips down below.

Ingredients:

8 oz bag of dates
1/4 cup cocoa powder
Cap full of vanilla extract
1 cup of walnuts (or any nut)
Dark baking chocolate chips
1 or 2 Tbsp of plant base milk

Mix all the ingredients, minus the chocolate chips, in a food processor until you have a dough-like consistency.

Roll into bite size pieces and coat with more cocoa powder.

I like to take a coffee mug and put a little cocoa powder in there then throw the bites in there and shake around for easy coating. Place the date bites on a baking sheet while making sure they don’t touch each other. Place in the freezer for 20 mins.

Prep a double boiler and add the chocolate chips in the top bowl. This will allow the chocolate chips to melt. Once all the chocolate is melted and smooth, remove from heat.

Take the date bites out of the freezer and dip in the melted chocolate. Place them back in the freezer with spacing in between to allow the melted chocolate to harden again.

Wait 30 min or so and enjoy!

If this sounds like too much chocolate (although it’s never too much in my book), you can skip dipping the bites in the cocoa powder and melted chocolate and simply roll around on crushed nuts or coconut. Maybe even all of the above!
